To help you track the talent and to share our personal favourites (in no particular order) we’ve assembled this comprehensive list of our favourite screen printers and their prints from this year.
We sat down for a chat with Nikos Trepkas, A.K.A Dante Von, over a cup of coffee earlier today. We were lucky enough to sneak in a quick interview and take a peek under the hood of the sleek machine that is his artistry.
Nikos' expressive and personal style is coming to @number177bar on the 2nd of November. His exhibition titled: Born In Chaos, will cover a wide range of his works and there is definitely something for everyone. So make sure to come on down and support this incredible talent.
Hello The Mushroom!
We are joined by paste up, collage and skull master Sara A.K.A Hello The Mushroom for another one of our curious expeditions into the motivations and meanings behind one of The Number Gallery's artists.
Sara has been making a name for herself on the street art scene with a slick pop art street style mediated by the intelligent and mischievous theoretical underpinnings behind her work. Not only is she talented, but also a bit of a legend to hang out with. We are talking to her at Number 90 Bar and Kitchen, where she has just put the finishing touches on her most recent mural for an upcoming exhibition this October the 19th.
We are joined by one of the intrepid entrepreneurs who founded the Number Gallery, the tirelessly resourceful and energetic creative of more practical produce, Remi Landaz, in the first of our short interviews with the artists that make the Number Gallery what it is. Remi and his partner in business Bruno Cabral hand built (thats right they built it with their bare hands, some grit and a large portion of determination) the Hackney Wick landmark Number 90 Bar and Kitchen (number90bar.co.uk). We join Remi at his new Berlin inspired bar Number 177 (number177bar.co.uk) for this short interview and a peek into the inner workings of this creative tour de force.
In 1842 Sir John Herschel came up with the process of cyanotyping as a cost effective means of reproducing notes and diagrams. A friend and colleague of his, Anna Atkins, later used the technique to produce the worlds first photographically illustrated book, Photographs of British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions.
The Number Gallery was set up in 2016 by entrepreneurs Remi Landaz and Bruno Cabral, owners of the Number Group and Half Baked Records.
Art has always been part of the heart of The Number Groups vision; The Number Gallery will serve as a means of promoting upcoming artists through an exciting portfolio of exhibitions, original artist products, fine art prints and a consistent program of mural projects.
